Just moving alone at a slow pace.

Well I haven’t been on much - just busy with life! I have however been making better more planned meals - my lunches have also been much more healthier. I do need to get more active again. I think I will get back to swimming. The tourist season is slowing down and in another couple weeks the hotsprings will be less busy. I also saw a beginers yoga class and I thnk I will give that a go as it is right after work and I will still be home early. Well I hope everyone is doing great. I will try to catch up next week.

planning my meals - again!

Well today after work I went and shopped mainly for my work lunches. #1 I need to pack lunches to plan my work lunches better and eat healthier #2 I need to plan and bring lunches to save $$$$ I have gotten lazier and bought lunches. With the new home we bought (well new to us!) I need to save $$ as there are lots of reno’s to do. I have also bought salmon patties and chicken breasts for supper meals. So now I just have to get my ducks in a row and plan my meals and get back on track.

Man it is so hot right now! I don’t feel like walking much. But well I know it will cool down in a few weeks.

Note to self ” next year train before your 10K run!”

Ok ok any normal person would train before entering a 10K run. I did last year and found it went pretty good. This year well it was a grind from the beginning. The route is very hill and area’s are quite steep. I guess it stands to reason living in a mountain town! Well my friend and I pushed it. We completed it in just 2 minutes longer than last year! So I am very happy with it - however man am I stiff today! So next year I will plan in advance.

Well all I can say is that at least I did it and didn’t not go in the run walk. So even though it took me 2 mins longer I wasn’t a quitter and completed my goal.

tomorrow I will go shopping and pick up some healthy proteins.

need more protein

I have been feeling tired lately - more than usual. I now realize after looking @ my food choices I have been toooooo heavy on the carbs. I have to think about lunches… Well I am going to bring a bag of salad to work and a can of salmon. I have found some nice salmon. It is boneless & skinless in the can - kind of like tuna.

So tomorrow for breakfast : 2 eggs, Lunch: can of salmon with salad, Dinner: salad & fish on barbq. I know this will give me the lack of sluggishness I need before the race.

Maybe its me but carbs (the bad ones) make me sooo tired. Well worth the experiment.

only a couple days to the race!

Well Sat is approaching fast and I am a bit nervous. I know I should of prepared more but well I am going to consider the many boxes I moved up and down the stairs as my training program:) Well my meals lately have been well somewhat to be improved on. With the move is reno’s… no kitchen - But I bought a bag of salad the otherday and it sure tasted good. It will be about 2 weeks until the kitchen is done and then well I am going to get backto a normal planning of meals. I miss that. I miss having proper food on hand. I miss my crock pot ( its in a box some where?) However I am glad to feel at home - now that we bought our place I feel I am at the start of a new phase in my life. I am feeling more centered. I know this is a good starting point for me. Maybe the race…. like you said Jo is what I need to re start! Yes that will be my new starting point!

10 k - run / walk this weekend Aug 11

Well gang- I am still here! I have been in the midst of moving to our new home. We have been busy with the move - DH reno’s and I am taking some courses @ work…. Well I have been somewhat overwhelmed with everything - but I shouldn’t as I am excited that we have purchased a home. Our area is totaly out of control with housing prices. We are a resort area that the rich oil industry in Alberta Canada is drawn to. Well we have a wonderful area with mountains and lakes… Which brings me to the 10K I am doing this weekend. Loop the Lake!  Yes there is a marathon 63K  around our Lake Windermere. BUT I am just doing the 10 k portion. Well I really haven’t done much training but I am doing it any ways. I did it last year and If I don’t continue it this year I know it will put me back in my old patterns.

Well must sign off I will walk a bit tomorrow (to and from work- 1/2 hour each way) miss you all I will try to get back into it now that I am all moved in!

2nd big hike of the season.

Well DH and I did our 2 hour hike. About 7 km. ( I think 5 km was up the mountain and 2 down)  my legs are so out of shape! I think someone put cement in my hiking shoes! My feet felt so heavy. But well enough complaining…. I did it and plan to do it again Wed after work.  After that we went for a coffee - came home and did numerous tasks and had a nap @ 4:00 . Not a bad day off. I think I covered the mind body soul stuff for the day. The lady who owns the coffee/doughnut  shop in town is new here and she use to run alot when she lived on the west coast. She is swamped with her business and DH and I are taking her hiking on Wednesday. Lots of new people to our area are nervous about going out alone (bears) so we think it is so important to bring others with us when we can. She is prop. older than I (47) but she has done many marathons so I will be eatting her dust! should be fun.  We are sure getting to know lots more people here from all different walks of life. We even have our American friend( also canadian)  up for the summer - from Arizona. (has a condo here) So she will push me to hike also.
Oh I also bought a rock tumbler - so I am going to rock and roll! Not sure if any of you remember that I have a rock collecting problem? I have been gluing them on wood trays & bowls and then grouting them. They have turned out wonderful! So anyways now I will beable to polish the rocks! I guess I better get out hiking and collect more.

life is good

I have had a pretty good week so far. Meals have been more planned than not this week . So that I am happy with myself. We just got new shirts for work today - They are kind of a cross between a golf shirt / jogging shirt. Kind of trendy and quite form fitting!I want to look good as all the other girls at the bank look very good in theirs - so I want to also.  So I will call it my insentive shirt! I can’t gain any more weight. I must tone up. Well  things are a bit hairy here with getting ready to pack move & renovate our new home. But in the big picture in life I have to say I am lucky to have what I have.  A  great job, great family, and a  home.  Today I think about Luella…what a great person she is and how lucky her children are to have her . I  only wish her  good thoughts and happy memories of her times with her husband.

Have you seen the Secret?

You know I got the Secret DVD & book in March. Funny how thinking different works… We live in a very expensive realistate area (mountain resort)  Well we have been renting our house for 16 months - we figured after selling our motel / home we will just have to settle with renting for now. Well I requested the DVD The Secret for my BD in March. I had hubby watch it with me. Well after watchin it I wrote down my wants in life. Affordable house in town with a rental suite in it (incase our girls ever need to move home they have there own space) I started saying ” we will find the perfect home” “the perfect home is there for us” Instead of sayin we can’t afford a house. Well guess what! we have a home. July 1st is our postion date! Well it is a huge fixer- upper with a 2bedroom suite up stairs and a 2 bedroom suite down on a walk out basement - backing onto a valley - no one behind us! just mountains! Ya baby! I am very happy.
Ok what does this have to do with weight loss? Well I wrote done my home wishes so whats to stop me from writting down my weight loss issues? Yes that means regular blogging and setting goals. I want to loose 10 lbs before my 10K run/walk in Aug! Yea baby I will do it!  Well thats my secret….

I’m walking…

Well I got my butt off the couch this evening after a long day at work. And went for a good 1 hour walk. My walking buddy guilted me into getting out walking by saying what a wonderful day it is She was right. It was so sunny and clear sky… It rained the last few days and you could see the fresh snow in the mountains. Breath taking! Well I have to restart my power walking as Aug’s 10 will come fast! I want to get some new shoes - might head into Banff as they have some great sporting good stores. My food has been good this week. Last night however I did go for dinner with DH and had chicken wings and nachoes. I totaly enjoyed them and had no guilt. Today was a bit off with food. Breakfast 2 eggs (very good) and veg juice. Lunch well…. 2 sausage rolls (not so good ) I brought my healthy lunch to work today but there is this lady who just returned after a 8 month stress leave. Well she is a supervisor and likes to play head games. and well tried playing with my head! I had to go out at lunch just to distance myself  from her. Well I think I will have to bring lunches from now on that don’t require me to heat up so If I need to leave then well I will and bring my lunch. I can’t let her mess up my  program. I have been at this job since Oct. and have been loving it. I am quited concerned that this one person is going to have such a negative effect on the work enviroment. (she did before). Ok ok …. Snap out of it Char! you can handle this! (remember the Secret DVD) well enough talking to myself. Hope you all have a great day!
